Working in a number of positions including Marketing Manager and Marketing Services Manager for Sega OziSoft, John Giro managed a team of 12 staff and operated an in-house agency that saw the SEGA brand reach the position of No. 1 game console in Australia.
Through the Marketing Services team, John was responsible for the design and implementation of marketing collateral, trade shows, displays, sponsorships, magazines, packaging, newsletters, public relations, direct marketing campaigns and roadshows. Savings and efficiencies delivered by the team provided more budget to invest in media and events.
Asked how Sonic the Hedgehog could be leveraged, John delivered a real life Sonic suit that was used for promotional appearances across Australia. Sonic brought the brand to life, with stunts including abseiling from the roof of Sydney’s Entertainment Centre, into a Sydney Kings game.
